"I really liked the idea of planning for one big event that offered a lot of flexibility and interpretation, all the way from Spirit Week to the actual dance," Rungwerth said.
Rungwerth, along with her committee, held weekly meetings brainstorming the homecoming theme and venue as well as events to surround the week. Ultimately, the Las Vegas theme at Crystal Gardens won.
"I am so happy to see the excitement that everyone has with the theme, venue, band decision, etc," said Rungwerth. "It is so great to see that all our hard work has paid off."
Some obstacles the committee encountered included the Homecoming date being pushed up by a month, leaving just four weeks to prepare for the event after coming back from break.
"I definitely had my moments of feeling overwhelmed, but I learned to work through it and know when to turn to the rest of the committee for some help," Rungwerth said who has been involved with DAB for two years. This is her first year as Homecoming coordinator.
"I feel incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity to reach such a large population of DePaul and really wanted to make the whole package of Homecoming appealing to students," said Rungwerth. "Even though Homecoming is put on by DAB, to me the purpose of Homecoming is to bring the school together and promote overall spirit."
